Who we are

Colorado Springs Decks & Pergolas Founder Aaron Keator is a seventh generation Coloradoan and the great-grandson of pioneers. He began his construction career at the age of twelve, later becoming a journeyman plumber, and eventually returning to framing homes during the building boom in the early 2000s. He then settled into facility maintenance until the economic downturn in 2008, which prompted him to start his own business in 2012, All Inclusive Construction and Handyman Services, Inc., handling all aspects of home repair and construction.

In 2016, Aaron discovered his true passion for outdoor living spaces and founded Colorado Springs Decks and Pergolas. As building codes evolved and new materials and techniques emerged, Aaron excelled in mastering these changes, growing his company, and fostering strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and other landscaping and construction firms. Despite managing three different crews, he took pride in personally overseeing every job site to ensure the quality associated with his name.

When the challenges of 2020 arose, Aaron became known for his resilience and determination. He lives by his slogan, "If you can dream it, we can build it," and frequently tells friends and family, "The difficult we do right away, the impossible takes a little bit longer." His family heritage, rooted in farming and ranching, instilled in him a deep appreciation for challenging work and the belief that it is essential for success.

Aaron is also the co-founder and one of the pastors of the Revelation Riders Motorcycle Church. His company donates 10% of its profits to charitable organizations within the community.

Giving back to the community

Colorado Springs Decks and Pergolas is dedicated to giving back to the community. During a bid at a residence, I noticed pictures on the walls of people who looked very familiar. When I asked the homeowner about them, she introduced herself as Margaret Tiegen, the wife of John “Tig” Tiegan, known for his role in the Benghazi events depicted in the movie “13 Hours.” She informed me that the deck I was bidding on, which was to go around an above-ground pool, was intended for his wounded warrior foundation, “Beyond the Battlefield.” This organization helps soldiers returning from war adjust to civilian life, cope with PTSD, and assist those physically wounded in battle.

Upon hearing this, we told her that we would build the deck for free. With the help of three other construction companies and several volunteers, including my father, nephew, and past clients and employees, we completed the project over a weekend. As a result, we were invited to John’s fundraiser at his home, where we met several heroes who were working with him to help others.

Aaron also uses his resources to support his local community in Colorado Springs. He has been actively working with the Revelation Riders Motorcycle Church to assist A New Community, an outreach program that provides food and clothing to the less fortunate. This includes an annual Thanksgiving and Christmas drive, which has been running for 13 years. Last year, we distributed 250 turkey dinners to families in need and hundreds of presents to children who otherwise would not have received any for Christmas. Aaron also speaks at several churches to raise awareness and gather donations for A New Community and other charities.
